Uphill Diagonal Technique
Overall a very nice demonstration of the uphill diagonal stride. During the more significant uphill portion of the manoeuver there was good movement of the body weight over the driving ski which would help to maximize grip. This can be seen at the feet-together, hands-together position by the forward position of the hips relative to the ankles (left-hand picture below). In addition there was generally a very good projection of the feet forward at the end of the driving phase of the manoeuver, indicated by the greater than 90-degree angle seen between the shin and the foot (right-hand picture) below. Note however that this excellent forward project was not always consistently done. Finally, the poling action was also not always consistent but varied between good and very good. More consistency in planting the poles with only a slight flex at the elbows (there is a tendency for too great a bend in the elbow during the pole plant) and for driving the hands as far back as possible (performed very well in the right-hand image below) is something to work towards. | |
