Introduction
Welcome to the
video analysis section of XCSkiTips.com. This section is meant as a
general resource for cross-country skiers and instructors as a means of
providing feedback to students through posted comments, images and
digital video.
As we move more and more into a digital age,
there become many options for the cross-country skiing instructor to do
video feedback for their student. With most relatively inexpensive,
pocket-sized, digital still cameras also able to take at least 10 sec
video clips, it is extremely easy to acquire some form of video of a
student's skiing. What becomes a bigger challenge is how to review the
video with the student and provide meaninful feedback. Whether the
issue is finding a TV (or computer for digital video) on which to
display the video or simply finding the time to sit down and review the
video versus spending time on the snow the end result can be a less
than optimal video analysis session.
If the video and/or images taken of the student
are in, or can be converted to, a digital format this site provides a
means for an instructor to upload video(s), add written comments and
additional optional pictures (that could be annotated retrospectively
with arrows and other markings to highlight specific points!) and send
a notification to their student containing a link to an online version
of their feedback.
I hope you will find this useful. See the Example
Analysis section for some examples - after all a picture is worth a
thousand words (isn't that why we do video analysis in the first
place?).
